Here is a short timeline with highlights of the support Tag has received for the Project:

  • July 2002 Lemhi Shoshone Tribe gives their support.
  • June 1998 Tag seeks the help of Rod Ariwite, historian and descendant of Sacajawea’s family.
  • November 2002 A Board of Directors for the Sacajawea Sculpture is formed.
  • December 2002 The Sacajawea Sculpture organization applies for 501(C)3 status.
  • February 2003 The Sacajawea Sculpture organization gets IRS ruling to become a 501(C)3.
  • March 2003 Fundraising begins.
  • August 2004 Tag is conduit for the oral history of the Lemhi beingrecorded by the Wisdom of the Elders for broadcasting on National Public Radio.
  • November 2004 Amy Mossett, representing the Hidatsa/ Mandan/ Arikara Tribes (adopted tribes of Sacagawea) adds support for Tag’s work. She also serves COTA “Circle of Tribal Advisors”.
  • January 2005 Cowlitz Indian Tribe adds their support.
  • January 2005 dAVe burlingame, Director, Cultural Recources, Cowlitz Indian Tribe gives Tag’s work his personal letter of support.
  • January 2005 Chinook Indian Tribe adds their support.
  • January 2005 Wisdom of the Elders adds their support.
  • January 2005 Chief Cliff Snider, a Chinook elder, gives his support. He has served COTA.
  • February 2005 Mike Iyall, Cowlitz elder presents project letter to the “Circle of Tribal Advisors”, they do not endorse artwork, but they have no opposition to the project.
  • February 2005 Lewis and Clark Heritage Trail Foundation, Washington State Chapter unanimously endorses Tag’s work.
  • February 2005 Washington State Governor's Committee for the Lewis and Clark Trail finds Tag’s work historically accurate and culturally sensitive.
  • February 2005 Barbara Kubik, Chair of the Washington State Governors Committee for the Lewis and Clark Trail sends her personal support for Tag’s work.
  • February 2005 William Clark’s living family supports Tag’s work.
  • February 2005 David Freece, Director, Cowlitz County Historical Museum provides letter of support.
  • February 2005 Randy`L Hedow Teton, Inspiration for the Sacajawea dollar coin emails her support for Tag’s work, on Pomp’s 200th birthday.
  • February 2005 Sherry Manning, Director of the Lewis and Clark Studies at Lewis and Clark College offers her support for Tag’s work.
  • March 2005 Dean Takko, Washington State Representative, 19th Legislative District provides letter of support.
  • March 2005 Christine O. Gregoire, Washington State Governor provides letter of support.
  • April 2005 Brian Blake, Washington State Representative, 19th Legislative District provides letter of support.
